  4. her most remarkable accomplishment was being able to rule England for 44 years in spite of being a woman, at a time when nobody in england thought a woman could be a good ruler.

She settled the religious question in England by making the Church of england the established church with herself as Supreme Governor, ending decades of religious turmoil.

She encouraged overseas trade and exploration, which helped to build england into a major world power.

She ruled england at a time when literature and the theatre blossomed, most famously of course in the plays of William Shakespeare.

her impact was enormous, she was a charismatic figure who created an image of herself as she grew older as the 'virgin queen'.  She never married, and declared that she was 'married to my kingdom'.  She was greatly admired, and as she had a ferocious temper probably a bit feared as well.

She was not particularly philanthropic, but during the later years of her reign laws were passed which attempted to deal with the growing number of poor and jobless people in the country.
