"The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on 20 November 2007.

A Service of Celebration was be held on the morning of 19 November 2007 at Westminster Abbey. This was open to invited guests only, but was broadcast live on BBC1.

Following the service, Her Majesty and His Royal Highness unveiled a new Jubilee Walkway panoramic panel in Parliament Square.

    Other events

To celebrate the Diamond Wedding Anniversary, the Royal Collection (which deals with Royal art and residences) has put together an exhibition of items from the marriages of the five sovereigns to have occupied the British throne in the last 150 years. The exhibition is on display at Windsor Castle until 11 March 2008."

Her wedding was the first really big happy occassion to happen after the end of World War II;people sent Elizabeth war ration coupons so that she could buy silk for her gown.

"....Princess's engagement to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten was announced.

The couple, who had known each other for many years, were married in Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947. The event was fairly simple, as Britain was still recovering from the war, and Princess Elizabeth had to collect clothing coupons for her dress, like any other young bride. They spent their honeymoon at Broadlands, Hampshire, the home of Lord Mountbatten, and at Birkhall, Balmoral.

Lieutenant Mountbatten, now His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was the son of Prince Andrew of Greece and a great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria. The Queen has paid public tribute to her husband on several occasions, recalling his loyal support and service to the country.

They have four children, and eight grandchildren. "

  4. They've been married since 1947.

    What a very strange question!

  5. Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary married. Philip Mountbatten-Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich,--on November 20 l947, in Westminster. BY CHOICE.  Thus the British Crown and Greek Royal families intertwined.

Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II five years later in Westminster at her Coronation. on June 2, l953  bringing a young family { two children---Charles Phillip Arthur George (b.November l4, 1948)  and Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise (b. August l5, l950)} to Buckingham Palace

  6. she is married to him...

yeah like the Queen has an 80 year old something boyfriend

  7. Queen Elizabeth II is still currently married to her husband, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Although, he is known to be a womanizer with wondering eyes, the couple never been through any separation trials or any mentioning of a divorce. The Queen and her husband just celebrated their 60th diamond wedding anniversary last year on November 24th.

Note: I would assume one of the main reasons why The Queen never bestowed upon her husband the title of "The Prince Consort" was probably due to his "infidelity" in the past.

  8. Of course she's married to Phillip.  Has been for years and years.  Why would you think she's not?  She's such a proper lady, she wouldn't be shacked up with anyone.

  9. Apart from the Dudley affair, Elizabeth treated the marriage issue as an aspect of foreign policy. Though she turned down Philip II's own offer in 1559, she negotiated for several years to marry his cousin Archduke Charles of Austria.
