Queen of the United Kingdom?

Okay i just want to clear this matter.

Queen Elizabeth II is not known ever as Queen of England (Which most Americans assume). She has only ever been Queen of the United Kingdoms of England,Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland as one.

In affect she is not Queen Elizabeth II because there was never a Queen Elizabeth I of United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth I was the last Queen (and Monarch) of England.

Since 1603 there has only been a monarch of the United Kingdom.

Many people find this very hard to believe

Most people say, What about Queen Anne ?

Queen Anne was Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland. England and Scotland formally united into a single state under the Act of Union 1707.

Our Queen today has the official title of:

"'Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

She is queen of : United Kingdom,Canada,Australia,New Zealand,Jamaica,Barbados, the Bahamas,Grenada, Papua New Guinea, and other small settlements

Well then I guess the royals are not terribly well educated if they dont know their own history.

Because the present queen elizabeth named herself queen elizabeth 2nd at her own coronation some 50 plus years ago.

She should have know her own family history - shouldnt she?

We didn't establish a brand new monarchy every time the nation grew. We've always (except for Cromwell) had a monarch who has ruled some part of the UK. It's just easier to say Queen Elizabeth II so we know she's not Queen Elizabeth I. Stop being pedantic and get over it.
