The London-based club wants the on-loan Englishman to end his contract by mutual agreement, as club manager, Harry Redknapp finds him excessive to the club’s needs
Joey Barton has stated his intent that he no longer wants to return to Queens Park Rangers, as he feels at home with the Ligue 1 outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127. The midfielder was sent on-loan to the French club on a year-long loan last summer, with the
choice of making the move permanent. And now the London-based club is urging the player to end his contract.
The midfielder has played for numerous English clubs including Manchester City and Newcastle United before moving to the Loftus Road. The 30-year-old was loaned-out to Marseille prior to the start of the 2012/13 campaign and it seems like that the player
is settled at his new club.
The Manchester City academy graduate had publicly stated that he was happy in Marseille, and had no intention of returning back to London. This prompted the London-based club to permanently part ways with the English midfielder.
Despite Barton’s temporary move to Stade Velodrome, the Hoops still have to pay around £300,000 per month to player as per the contract. And that’s a hefty amount of fee considering for a player who has no future with the club. With the burden of the midfielder’s
wages on their account books, the club wants to let rid of this unnecessary expense.
The arrival of new manager, Harry Redknapp, has led to a turn of events at the English Premier League side. Redknapp wants to bolster his squad by adding new recruits in the January transfer window, and he wants all the resources he can get in order to land
the best players at the Loftus Road.
The 30-year-old is set to finish his temporary tenure with the Rhone giants. If the former Newcastle United midfielder is willing to mutually end his contract with QPR, the player would be declared a free agent. And that would provide Les Phoceens the option
to sign the Merseyside-born player without paying any transfer fee to his former club, making his stay in Marseille permanent.
