Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt admits interest in a move to Chelsea and Arsenal
Newly promoted English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers’ midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adel-Taarabt-c3610 admitted he was attracted to a move to London sides Chelsea and Arsenal.
He has also been linked with other top Premier League sides like Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, but maintained he would prefer a move to London.
He did however; reveal he was pleased with his guaranteed first-team place in the Rangers’ squad, having made 44 appearances last season to help his side to a Premier League promotion.
Taarabt said he was not certain if he would be guaranteed regular first team football with English Premier League giants Chelsea.
The Blues already have too many players, which is why Taarabt could end up on the bench if he joins the London side.
Unless they offload in the summer transfer window, there will be no place in midfield for Taarabt to display his talent.
Taarabt said while speaking to reporters:
“I like the London clubs. I do not hide my liking for Chelsea.
I would prefer to play regularly at QPR to being on the bench for a season at Chelsea. Now, if they told me I'd play 20 games per season, I think I'd be very tempted.”
At this point Chelsea cannot guarantee the Moroccan anything, since they have not found a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager was sacked at the end of last season and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have been without a manager since then.
This is mainly why they have not been able to make any signings. While they have made enquiries about quite a few players, they will only complete the signings after appointing a manager.
Taarabt revealed he was also considering a move to Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal, mostly because of his acquaintance with Gunners midfielder Samir Nasri.
He continued:
“The idea is very appealing. Especially since there is also http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360, who I know very well.
But after that, there is a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 possibility of playing the minimum.”
However, he could face the same problem at the Emirates Stadium, especially if Nasri decides to stay at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
The 23-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, something the player has not decided upon.
Taarabt insisted he valued his current contract with Queens Park Rangers, which would run out at the end of the 2012-2013 season.
He said the clubs which had shown interest had been in talks with the Rangers’ over a possible move, he said:
“It's currently what I'm trying to achieve. Today, I have a two-year contract with QPR.
Yes, there is contact but I cannot say more, as you can imagine.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on a more permanent basis in the summer of 2010 for an undisclosed fee, on a three year contract, having previously been with the side on a loan move.
Shortly after that he was awarded the captain’s armband and claimed the Championship’s Player of the Month Award as he led his side to a promotion.
In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747, he has made 95 appearances for Queens Park Rangers in all competitions and has scored 27 goals.
