Queenscliff and Rasputin to collide in the Gowran Park On Facebook Handicap at Gowran Park
Gowran Park will become home for the Follow Gowran Park On Facebook Handicap over a mile on Thursday, 12th April. Participating in the race that carries the €5,520 purse is a line-up of sixteen three-year-olds.
The highly assorted line-up includes those who are up for their seasonal debuts along with those who have raced during the new season but have not been successful in bagging their debut victories. Two entries on the lineup, Queenscliff and Rasputin have
been relatively successful than the rest who are taking up the challenge today.
Queenscliff, Danehill Dancer’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Bonheur, claimed the second start of the 2012 season. Under training David Wachman, she was the 5/2 favourite winner of the Irish News Boot Room 3YO Handicap on 23rd March at
Dundalk over a mile.
With M. Lordan onboard, Queenscliff led the runner up of the race, Samollie, by 2 ¾ length and had Elusive In Paris finishing third after the winner.
Queenscliff shot off with the 2012 campaign on 24th February at Dundalk in the Better Odds Ladbrokes 3YO Fillies Maiden over a mile. The outcome of the race was not the most desired one as the three-year-old finished sixth on the line-up of ten.
The race was won by Destiny’s Child, racing for the wire at a short head’s differential from the runner up, Merkel. Settling into the third slot was Elegant Sisi.
The 5/2 favourite of the race, Foinse, finished fifth just before Queenscliff.
The freshly painted victory on the record was actually also the career win as the only two outings through which she raced during the previous season could not culminate into successes.
Another note worthy entry on the line-up is the three-year-old bay colt, Rasputin, who has ventured thrice ever since the new season took off. He held on to the second position that he scored in the seasonal debut but then compromised on it by the third
race of the season by finishing tenth on the line-up of thirteen.
On 23rd March, the same race had Queenscliff winning and Rasputin losing it all the way. The two will share the track today and how would the positions switch, is bound to unfold soon.
