Queensland Reds skipper James Horwill enthusiastic about Wallabies match against Fiji- Rugby News
The Super Rugby championship winning derby, Queensland Reds’ skipper James Horwill, is eager to participate in the Wallabies single test against Fiji on July 17. Australia is taking on Fiji in a test match before going into the Tri-nations Cup 2011, which
would help the side choose the best players for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011. James Horwill told reporters on July 12 that he is ready to take on the Fijian side after winning the Super Rugby trophy on July 9, against the Crusaders.
James Horwill led his side from the front in the Super Rugby season and ended up the tournament with his first title for the Queensland Reds. The Reds proved to be the best side of the season as they remained on top of point’s table most of the time. They
were given some tough competition by the Crusaders in the final but in the end managed to lift the trophy.
James Horwill was included in Australian Tri-Nations 40-member crew, along with 15 other players from his team, thanks to the stunning performance in the Super Rugby final. James Horwill described the victory against the Crusaders a great achievement as
he had missed the complete stall of Super Rugby 2010.
Responding to the news of his inclusion in Wallabies squad, James Horwill said that he is ready and motivated to play for his national side. He further said that, "I'd love to play. I'm good to go. After last year missing out - I haven't played a Test match
for nearly 18 months - so I'd relish any opportunity to get back out there. Obviously selection will determine that - but I want to play.”
He also appreciated the Australian Rugby Union’s decision to favour Super Rugby performers in the squad. He said that, “It's good reward for a number of guys that have had great and very consistent seasons Super Rugby-wise and now it's (time) to put the
Super Rugby season behind us.”
Australian rugby team will take on Fiji on July 17, for the test match before going into Tri-Nations Cup, 2011.
