http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 bowled-out for 250 against Western Australia in Sheffield Shield
Queensland were all-out for 250 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 (WA) on day-one of their Sheffield Shield match at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) Ground in Perth. In reply, the hosts didn’t lose any wicket for 16 runs until the close of
play.
The home side won the toss and they elected to field first. The wicket didn’t have too much assistance for the bowlers, but there was bounce in it. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Broad-c2384 started the innings for the visitors with confidence. They put together a 47-run
stand for the first wicket. However, Broad was unable to capitalise on the start he got, and was dismissed after scoring 31 runs.
Andrew Robinson didn’t look comfortable in the middle, and he was out after adding just 15 runs to the total. His wicket was followed by Chris Lynn, who failed to trouble the scorers. Townsend was looking solid, and he looked like he would get a big score.
However, the opening batsman was dismissed for 42 runs, leaving his team four down for 102 runs.
This brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Burns-c67125 and the Queensland Captain James Hopes at the crease. The pair played sensibly and rescued their team from trouble. They amassed a brilliant partnership of 108 runs, and took their team’s total over the 200 run mark.
Burns got out after scoring a magnificent half-century for his team. He scored 58 runs in the century partnership with his captain. The fall of Burns saw the Queensland team collapse, as none of the middle-order batsmen were able to support their captain.
Hopes top scored in the innings with 80 runs. He led his team from the front, but would have liked to score a century.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Harris-c1897 started the innings for the hosts
and made sure that their team saw the day through without any problems. Robinson was unbeaten on 10 whereas; Harris scored six before the day was called-off by the umpires.
WA have a strong batting line-up, and the most important player in their team is Michael Hussey, who will be making a return to competitive cricket after a gap of one month. The veteran player has a chance to make it to Australia’s World Cup squad, as Doug
Bollinger has returned to the country following a knee injury. However, the selectors will make the decision only after they are completely satisfied with Hussey’s form and fitness.
