Queensland in trouble against South Australia in Sheffield Shield
The Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 (SA) was nicely poised at lunch on the third day at the Adelaide Oval. Queensland had scored 25 runs for the loss of three wickets by the close of the day’s first session to take a lead of
78 runs.
The wicket at the Adelaide Oval has been good for batting on the first two days, but it seems that it has become somewhat bowler friendly as the game has progressed. SA resumed their innings today with their overnight unbeaten batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Manou-c1504 and Nathan
Lyon. Manou was not-out on 80 while Lyon was yet to open his account.
The team expected wicketkeeper batsman Manou to get to his century and score as many runs in the first innings as possible. However, Manou failed to capitalise on the opportunity he had and was dismissed 13 runs short of a ton. His wicket dented SA’s chances
badly and the tail-enders didn’t have many answers to Queensland's accurate bowling. Lyon was the ninth wicket to fall in the SA innings. He had scored just 9 runs off 48 balls.
The last wicket to fall was that of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Feldman-c1854 was superb with the ball for his team. He took four wickets in the innings for Queensland. Feldman got good
support from James Hopes, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Boyce-c1213 as they grabbed two wickets each.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 would have hoped to capitalise on their first innings lead and score some quick runs in the remainder of the day. However, their hopes were shattered by the SA bowlers, as they ran through the top-order very quickly.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wade-Townsend-c2774 yet again failed to provide a solid platform for their team and were dismissed for 10 and one run respectively. The first-drop Andrew Robinson was out for three runs to leave his side precariously poised at 20 runs for the loss
of three wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Floros-c1664 were unbeaten on 4 and 2 respectively when the umpires called the session off. They will be looking forward to scoring some runs for their team in the next session and guiding them out of trouble.
On the other hand, SA will be eying a few more quick wickets, which will certainly make the match more interesting. The match seemed to be headed towards a draw after the second day’s play. However, a result is very much likely after the exciting action
of the first session.
