Queensland set http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 (SA) 272-run target in Sheffield Shield
South Australia (SA) need 272 runs to beat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 in their Sheffield Shield match at the Adelaide Oval. The match seemed to be headed towards a draw yesterday, but a result is very much likely now.
The wicket seemed to have eased out for the batsmen on the second day, but there was some assistance for the bowlers throughout the third day. Queensland managed to add 218 runs to their first innings lead of 53.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Floros-c1664 started the post-lunch session for Queensland. Their team was struggling at that moment as they had lost three quick wickets for just 25 runs by lunch. However, Floros and Burns held things together for Queensland and put together
a 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Burns was unbeaten in the first innings of the match on a splendid 140 runs and continued to hurt the SA bowlers. It seemed as if he would take the match away from SA with the way he was batting. However, his progress was halted by Daniel Christian. Burns
was trapped leg-before-wicket (lbw) after scoring 41 runs off just 58 balls. He looked well set and would have been disappointed about the manner in which he got out.
Burns’ dismissal brought wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Hartley-c1243 to the middle, who looked solid at the crease with Floros. The pair took their team’s total over 100, but Floros failed to capitalise on the start he got and was out after scoring 41 runs.
The team looked in trouble when their captain James Hopes came out to bat. Hopes played some good strokes and lifted the run-rate, but he too was unable to stay at the wicket for long, and was out after scoring just 30 runs off 47 balls.
The dismissal of the Queensland captain triggered a batting collapse, but Hartley didn’t lose his focus at all. The wicketkeeper batsman continued to extend his team’s lead and took it close to 300 before getting out. Hartley was the last man to be dismissed
in the day after scoring 61 runs. His effort helped Queensland get back into the match.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Edmondson-c1134 took three wickets each for their team and they will be hoping for a good start to the innings from their batsmen in order to chase down 272.
