It was a fine day in Perth, where both the teams entered on the field with a mission to conquer either side.
Interestingly, the scores were levelled after the first half of play at 2-2, as both the teams were equally offensive and defensive in the first thirty-five minutes.
The game opened in a thrilling way with strikers from the two sides making back-to-back penetrations against each other. In result of prompt style of play, the team Queensland earned a short-corner in the 3rd minute of the match and established
their dominance in the game. In a counter-offence, they carried out the ball into the D-line of the Queensland and earned a short-corner in the 5thminute of the match. Dougal Middleton, was the player of Tasmania, who took the opportunity and volleyed
a low-flying shot into the net.
Following the tie-up, the speed of the game slowed down and strikers from Queensland and Tasmania exchanged careful passes. Though the U-21 squads made some penetrations against each other, they failed to add up into the scorings in the next 20 minutes.
In the 21st minute of the first half, Rory Middleton managed to get the ball inside the defensive circle of Queensland and unleashed a flicking shot into the goal. The custodian from the Queensland did not find a chance to stop the shot. In a
matter of four minutes, the Queensland earned another short-corner and tested once again Webber. Amazingly, he was in splendid form and converted the second penalty-corner in the 25th minute to level the score at 2-2. The opening half ended with
Queensland and Tasmania at 2-2.
