Quel Elite set to shine at Carlisle – Novices’ Hurdle Preview
James Moffatt’s talented bay gelding, Quel Elite, is looking to accomplish the maiden victory of his career at Carlisle racecourse on Thursday, March 8.
The young horse is lined-up among 9 runners who are going to participate in the high-stakes marathon of ‘Join Now At Rewards4racing.Com “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle’.
The Class 4 race of 2m4f distance will commence at 2:40 (GMT).
For the prize money of £2,599, Quel Elite is geared up to compete against Ahhdehken, Ballycarbery, Burgundy Beau, Smart Act, Snapping Turtle, The Wayward Lord, Watford and Twiglet The Piglet.
Though Quel Elite has been winless to date since making his debut in February 2011, but the brilliant gelding has delivered some impressive performances during this period.
After finishing second and third in two races during December 2011, the eight-year-old runner went on to grab fourth spot in his last outing on January 20, 2012.
As a whole, the Maurice Chapman-owned horse has run for seven times so far and earned £2,505. In today’s contest, he is expected to fight confidently for the top position. However, his chances to thrive are no more than 70 percent.
Out of Quel Elite’s opponents, two runners named as Smart Act and Snapping Turtle are likely to compete potentially for success.
Smart Act has run for three times since starting his career in November 2011. After finished fifth in his maiden outing, the bay gelding went on to grab second position each in his last two starts. He will surely make a big impact today.
Snapping Turtle finished second in his maiden race on December 18, 2011. The trainee of Donald Whillans notched up third spot in his second and last outing on February 1, 2012. This bay gelding is also likely to show a decent run today.
As a whole, the Novices’ Hurdle is going to be an awe-inspiring event. The above three horses will wrangle hard for success, but the ball is likely to fall in the basket of Quel Elite. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
