I stayed at Woodstock Hostel.  At the time, several years ago granted, it seemed like it was the second cheapest in a relatively central area.

Hey Jac,

Here's a link that has all the hostels in Paris organized from lowest priced to highest. One thing you may want to consider is that usually, the cheaper ones are either farther away from the center or they're of less quality. Sometimes you might be better off paying a couple bucks extra to stay in a more centrally located spot where you wouldn't have to take the metro, as opposed to staying in the outskirts and having to pay for every trip. Anyways, enjoy, Paris will be great!
