  1. Yes It is right the main dialect is Otomi,  but one thing  not  in all Queretaro can be spoken, literally is just  a  small part of it, as the state of  Hidalgo  (  where I am  from) basically  is called Valle del Mezquital  therefore, Queretaro is our neighbour,  it is believed  years ago  people (tribes) wanted to spread the diallect.  in adition to that (otomies or Nha Nhu ,the original name) they weren't well accepted by others tribes,  because it was  they were formed by  expeled members of toltecas, etc, etc

  2. Actually, there is more than one.  The largest is Otomi.  Originally the area was inhabited by Otami and Tarascos.

    From Wikipedia ---

There are 25,269 speakers of indigenous languages in the State (2000) aged 5 or older. 6.7% of them do not speak Spanish. Otomi has the largest number of speakers with 22,077 (or 87.4%), followed by Nahuatl (1,069/4.2%), Mazahua (336/1.3%), Zapoteco (215/0.9%), and Huasteco (121/0.5%).

  3. Kate h is right, although Otomi is a bad name for them they call their selves Ñaños ( nianios).
