Query about AMD 6000+ Processor

Question

I ve had an M2NMX asus mobo for quite sometime now...along with it , a AMD 3600+ processor , 2GB RAM and a 160GB HDD...
I ve also got a XFX GeForce 8600GT graphic card to boot..
Recently i swapped my old proc for a new AMD 6000+ Proc keeping the rest of the hardware as it is...
I havent really experienced any improvement as such..
Do i need to download drivers or anything???
