"There are two concerns in material existence: following rules and regulation and secondly, spontaneity." May we establish this statement as a maxim for all time and all peoples?

As human beings we could conceivably create a list of rules and regulations for anything we try to do. We are assuming that most would agree with this. Therefore, the first concern is following rules and regulations whether for material goals or spiritual goals. We would follow rules and regulations to eventually achieve a level of spontaneity whether material or spiritual.

(For instance, we go through rules and regulations in a college course. We eventually graduate and land a job. We then proceed to achieve expertise in our job. In other words, we have achieved a level or plateau of spontaneity (also, "expertise") in our job. This understanding could also be applied to spiritual achievements.)

(Note: The term "Spiritual", here, would refer to the realm of the eternal. This is theorized by agnostics and a matter of faith for theistic believers. )

In consideration of "Spirituality" we can at least theorize another proposition. As we rise to higher and higher plateaus of enlightenment, the more we will act spontaneously without the need for consideration of rules and regulations that could be listed in some kind of paper or book. Therefore, spontaneity is the secondary concern.

So, throughout existence, and throughout all time, we are either following rules and regulations or we are acting spontaneously.

  1. No.

  2. So what your saying is basically a legnthy version of this:

"I have gained this from philosophy: that I do without being commanded what others do only from fear of the law. " - Aristotle

    Am I right?

  3. Laws are created to maintain social order. Human nature is to be free, unconstrained and unencumbered in Spirit. Success in life is the ability to effectively synchronise societal laws and personal desire as one.

Laws are implemented to curb or limit certain behavioural patterns unconducive to social harmony for the greater good. Until man learns to be sensitive and give due consideration to the feelings and sensibilities of the unspoken thoughts of people about them, his moral responsibility must be dictated by the government or church doctrine.

The mature free thinking individual makes allowances for the delicate vulnerabilities of others prior to embarking upon a course of action. If he is highly adept, his nature will be spiritually approbated and others will be led by his example.
