  1. I raise poms as a hobby. You can tell they are in heat because their  pp place swells up and bleeds. Most dogs will hump everything in sight , mostly males , but girls will to, especially when they are close to coming in heat.  To be safe and you don't want them breeding just keep them separated until they get to the vets.  And dogs should not get dairy products at all. Just buy a good quality of dry dog food, and it would help to put some wet ( canned food) on the dry until she starts eating the better dog food. Then slowly take the wet food away. or keep mixing it.

  2. You need to keep them separated until she is spayed.  Make no mistakes!

Sometimes dogs go through an adjustment period when they are getting used to new surrounding and may not eat much.  Just keep offering her food.  Also, when you go to the vet, they should do a check-up on her before she is spayed, so any concerns you have, mention them to the vet.
