Question About Audacity?

I was recording a song with audacity, and i wanted to do another overlay, but when i try to record it, it dosent heve the music or other overlays i recorded to help guide me

In recording, if you want to add track to the track from other input say, Line-in, go to menu, edit, preference, Audio i/o tab, check "play other tracks while recording new one" and "Software playthrough", while playing the track on audacity, you can add your track while listening to the playing track.
