Question:

Question About Mattress (springs etc)?

I had a mattress. It was 6 months old and miracoil type. Silentnight. Very firm.

Because of certain issues I have, I slept on top of an air mattress placed on top of it.

I didn't always treat it that great... sometimes when I needed to vent, I punched at it hard a lot. And when I turned it every few days, I would bang on it to try and take out any creases.

I found that after 6 months, when I tried to lay on it without my air mattress, some of the springs were creaking.

Could the stuff I did have caused this and if so, how ?

Cos I keep thinking that I somehow damaged it by being too heavy or something (even tho I am 126 Ibs)

  1. You would be better to use a thick mattress topper than an airbed.  It would also allow the mattress to breathe.

  2. Get a memory foam mattress topper: Foam mattress memory topper is a thin bed layer and it is placed over the normal mattress. Foam mattress memory topper is made of high-density foam. For this special character of the foam, it is called as memory topper. The foam is super soft and it can remain flat for a certain period if you press it. For example, you lie down on the foam .

mattress memory topper and after some time you get up. You can see that a clear impression of your body is stamped on the memory topper. The area on the surface where you were sleeping is little subdued than the other area. This characteristic of registering the pressure zones made on this topper is known as memory topper.

  3. by punching it you won't damage it a mattress that is made from pocket springs (which is what a miracoil is) is very sturdy

if its too hard for you then its because you only weigh 126lbs, you could try a softer mattress and sell the ones you've got coz you'll be able to sell it used for about £80 easy

the creaks are from moisture getting into it and the springs rubbing against each other

lay the mattress on its side against a window that is open for the day when you are not using it, do ths for 3-5 days and the bed should stop creaking
