Question About Port Forwarding On Windows 98

Question

Hi I have a Router and it's currently set up to work with my Windows 98. My uncle did somthing with it so my Router would work with Windows 98. Am I correct in saying that I need to set up Port Forwarding on Windows 98 so that my Router will work on Windows 98?

You are not correct when you say that you have to set up port forwarding ON WIN98. You don't set port forwarding on WIN98 but on the router itself.

Port forwarding is used to enable a "port" open on the internet side of your router to be forwarded to your LAN side (and vice versa).

If I understand what you want to do correctly, then you have to install your router's drivers on WIN98 in order to get WIN98 to work with your router. You will find de router's drivers in the CD that came with the router.

Port forwarding relates to the router, not your operating system. You shouldn't have to do anything to get it to work with Windows 98 except for perhaps install drivers (but only if you are using a wireless card).
