Question About Subs...?

So I'm planning on hooking my new car up with a nice sound system, but I'm pretty new to this... I found an ad on craigslist, a local dude is selling two 12" 1200w subs in a box with a 1200w amp for $300, is that good? And how loud will they be? I don't want anything like crazy loud.

  1. What brand and is the 1200 watts RMS or peak...RMS is everything Peak doesn't mean a thing.

Is the amp 1200 RMS or Peak??

If these are all RMS ratings this will be really loud...But I doubt it is RMS

    E-mail with any other questions

  2. kenwood is a pretty good brand but Audiobahn is garbage but 300 is a realy good price anyway. you will still probley need a good headunit and wires so that will add like 300 -600 so just keep that in mind . also have  the guy play them to see that there working fine and are not blown. i realy dont trust craigeslist/ebay for subs .most likely there owned by a 17 year old who plays them way past there rms and are blown or pretty much there.

  3. that will give you a very good bass hit provided they work of course. very good deal depending on what brand they are

  4. As said above, it really depends on what brand they are, if they're some knock off brand it's not worth even looking at. If they're a name brand set that could be quite a deal.

Overall 1200watts pushing 2 12" subs will sound pretty good but again depends on the brand. I would guess that you will not be blown out of the car but be happy with the sounds.

You might also consider upgrading the head unit and other speakers in the car. If you have a lot of bass with the 2 12" subs it might drown out the stock speakers in the car, so a nice upgrade of the door speakers and a decent amp to push them will be very helpful.

    Good luck.
