Hey guys!

I have been looking at water births on youtube.com and I am considering it as my birth plan- do any of you have stories of water births or know in facts about it?

Thanks!

  1. My cousin had that and it scared us to death! The baby came out fine and the mother said there was pain but not as much as she thought there would be. But the baby inhaled some water annd was sorta baby choking. They had to get him to a hospital soon.

If you dont mind less pain and the baby might get an infection or inhale the water.

Here is the defintion, read the top paragraph.

  2. i know that your not allowed pain medication so you have to do it naturally, i also know that many of the babies come out with respitory problems, some inhale a little water or get infections because of the mess your sitting in and its a little dirty to be soaking in your own afterbirth.

  3. I had a home water birth and it was the BEST experience of my whole life. Because I was home, I had no option for pain meds and the water helped soooo much. It's literally a natural epidural for the pain. My husband and I want another kiddo (maybe 2) and I will do it at home in the tub again. I'm not going to lie and say there was no pain, because there was, and it was intense, but it was sooooo worth it!

As far as the baby is concerned... Since they live in water, it's actually supposed to be much easier on them to be born into water. It's warm, just like their previous environment and it gives them the opportunity to stretch those limbs out from being all cramped up in there! The baby is perfectly safe to stay in the water as long as it hasn't taken it's first breath. Then, of course, you don't want to dip your baby's face in the water again. My son LOVED laying in there after he was born. We sat in there for nearly an hour and just looked at eachother. Hands down, it was the best birth option for me. Good luck to you!
