Question For Kids Who Are Home-Schooled?

Okay, well I'm home-schooled. I was wondering if you guys liked it or not. I mean like the good and bad things.

I like it because I get to see my mom all the time (she's the one that teaches me) And i'm not embarrassed to ask questions (like I would be embarassed to ask questions to another teacher because I'm shy.

I just wish I could meet more people. You know, have more friends. The only friends I've made are the one's that I've met at Horse Training Camp. I'm still happy though.

What about you?

  1. I hate it!

    It's horrible!

    Worst choice I've ever made....

    No friends....

    Almost no social life....

    I'm depressed....

    Grrrr....I despise it in fact....

    I'm sad, miserable, and lonely!

I want to write a book! About why people....Shouldn't be homeschooled!

But that's just me though....Some people love it!

    =)

  2. Handing the keyboard over to my daughter....................

i love home school !  I still dont like math.In some home school's you get more brakes.

If you do a sport you can meet more people.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I really like it. I'm a homebody, so homeschooling works out great for me, and I'm not forced to be social - I'm social when I want to be.

If you want to be more social, here's what I suggest: Ask your mom to join a homeschooling group. There are tons of groups out there that are for homeschooled kids to hang out with other homeschooled kids. Just mess around google and you'll find some. Do you like books? Most libaries have book clubs for kids/teens, some even especially for homeschoolers! Group sports at your local YMCA is always an option, even if you're not that sporty (90% of the kids on those teams aren't that sporty, either.) it's still fun to get outside and mess around. Get involved with a church that has a great youth program. If you pick the right one, they should have meetings at least once a week just to hang out and chat - Mine does! They also have winter and summer trips, too.

As you can see, the possibilities are endless for socializing. If you have a social problem, you have no one to blame but yourself - Get out there and have fun!

  4. My son is answering this for you...

I like homeschooling, I am nine.  I love my mom, she teaches me fun things.

    Thank you for asking.

    Patrick :-)

  5. I'll give you my 10yo daughter's answer:

She really likes homeschooling. She likes that she can spend lots of time with me, she likes that she can go her own pace, she likes that frustrating things can be put aside and come back to when she's more relaxed...

She doesn't have a problem meeting lots of people because we are very active with local homeschoolers--we host and go to parties and playdates, there are regular park days that kids of all ages attend, there are field trips and other activities set up with groups or other homeschoolers... You might ask you mom for some assistance in meeting up with other homeschoolers.

  6. as someone who attends public school, homeschooling seems awesome from what everyone is saying! high school is so stressful, and i wish i could just go walk away and take a nap for a while when i don't understand. i do wonder how that works when you're applying for colleges....

anyway, this was interesting, i envy you! :P

  7. i love it. i feel the same way and omg i love horses too!!!!!!!!

  8. I'm home-schooled and I love seeing my mom all the time too. She teaches me and like you said you are able to ask questions you might not ask another teacher. I also get a lot of breaks like going to the bathroom or getting a quick snack. The only thing I wish I could change would be my social life. I have friends but I barely see them because they're always at school. I am involved in a lot of after school activities which is how I still keep in touch with my friends. I take dance and volleyball and music lessons. None of them are involved with a school and I have a lot of friends. If you feel like you need to get out and talk to more people, maybe try some of the activities I mentioned. Hope you find something you like! Good Luck! :)

  9. im homeschooled and its fun, i like it, if you want to make friends just go to youthgroup.

  10. I love it.

I've had my shy times too. And it takes some effort to meet people, but it's still possible! Follow up with your friends from horse training camp.

I'm a junior now, and it has become a lot easier. Most of my friends are homeschooled. If you can join some kind of group, or charter school that helps a lot too. Depending on how old you are, I would suggest taking classes at a junior college nearby. It helps to be in that classroom setting sometimes.

    :)

  11. im home-schooled but its like where i do it on the computer because none of my parents have time there gone from 10 am till minight so yeah. i like it tho i dont hhave to worry about getting up at the right time or getting to my classes on time and stuff

  12. Maybe you could consider pen-pals? There are many sites to find them..and when your feeling lonely and can't go visit your friends, most of the time you can talk to a pen-pal..(if you e-mail online)

  13. I like it because I don't have to deal with all the crazy people in high school. But i do find it hard to socialize.

  14. My son is homeschooled and he is enrolled on school sports, clubs, and other community activities.  Very social little boy.  Try some of those things/

  15. I do my schooling online

    i am in high school

    and i LOVE it

i would not change it for the life of me

i would not change it for the world

    i absolutely love it
