  1. Best to determine what the word "wet" is.  Aside from the dictionary explanation, wet is most commonly a term or description of a touch or feel of something.  Say a towel is saturated with something that is just like water, but isn't.  Then you give that towel and ask them to describe it.  Chances are, the word "wet" will be used since they would think that the towel is soaked with water.

In short, wet is a description of a texture that water gives to something.

  3. "Wettability" is the capability of a substance to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules.

If something is hydrophobic (like oily or waxy substances), it will not form hydrogen bonds with water - so the water sits on top of it in rounded beads.

If something is hydrophilic, it will form hydrogen bonds with the water - so water spreads out over and into the substance.

Water molecules are VERY prone to forming hydrogen bonds with themselves (this is why water has such a high boiling point and heat capacity, and why ice expands) - so water IS wettable.

  4. is this a serious question?
