Question On Sponges: Are They Real Living Creatures??

Like the ones you see in tanks.. Or are they just like plants? Or are they actually animals?

  1. They are animals.

    The amazing thing about sponges (which I have read but not tried) is that if you shred them up into small pieces they actually grow back together as a single sponge again.


  2. A sponge is a colony of very simple living creatures. They are all members of the phylum porifera, which is Latin for "pore bearing" and they get their name from their feeding method of filtering the water they are living in through pores and removing the particles of food from it.

    They are animals, but very simple ones organised into a more complex feeding structure.

  4. That's a mystery to me. I think that they're the oceans filter. Because the suck up the water and push it out through their holes. So probably they are creatures.
