i have a 2001 Nissan Frontier. I turn it on then the AC. Sometime i hear the compressor kick on, sometimes it doesnt. Then when driving down the road it will start blowing cold air, and i hear the compressor kick on. At the beginging of the summer i had the R134a and it worked fine for months. i did follow the line down to where it connects to something that is turned by the belt and notice that only one bolt, not two, was holding that fitting in place. in the hole where the other bolt should be i did notice some sort of fluid. is there a slight leak from there or should i just look into getting the compressor checked and possibly fixed. or any suggestions?????

  1. yes you have a leak. check to see if the bolt is broken or if it's just missing. the part has a sealing o ring in it and if you are missing a bolt and there is fluid coming out than the o ring is not seated right. if it is missing take the other one out to find the right replacement. if you don't have the proper equipment to vacuum out your system you will lose all your freon because it is under pressure. r134a is relatively cheep and can be bought at most parts stores as well as the fill hose. after you fill the system you can take it to a shop and have it tested. you will need to do this because you might have some moisture in the system this will cause problems. they can also make sure you have the right amount in your system

  2. Yep, have it checked and soon.
