Question about AP History Essays/Outlines?

Please answer this only if you're familiar with AP essay-writing.

I have to write either a detailed essay or an outline for the SUMMARY of several chapters in the textbook. My questions are:

1. If I write an outline, would I have to include a thesis, and long paragraphs in it?

2. If I write an essay summary, how do I avoid copying the book, while keeping it very long (has to be 4 pages minimum)?? Since one chapter itself is one huge summary and wouldn't reach 4 pages if all typed out anyway?

  1. With an outline, yes it is necessary to write a thesis.  However you do not have to write down long paragraphs.  You simply have to outline the ideas which you will talk about in your essay.

What I do for summaries is read a paragraph or two and summarize that bit of it.  I then read the next two paragraphs and do the same thing.  And yea, I just repeat that process for all my reading.
