Why do Australian people get annoyed any time someone says that Australia is the 51st state of the United States?

Are they jelous of the Power of America or do they just dislike us?

why would anyone living in Australia be jealous of America?  you must be out of your mind

americans are not particularly liked anywhere in the world,you need to realize that america isn't the be all and end all of the world,there is a whole big world out there that don't give a rats ar*e about america

I'm afraid I can't fully answer your question, as I am English, but just how much power do you have?

What do you do that I (or any Australian) don't do? What does your government controlling a large army have to do with your everyday life? I earn a reasonable salary, and many Australians earn extremely large salaries. We have good lives and don't even think about your country very often.

The only times I hear someone refer to the UK as the 51st state is when they are having a pop at Tony Blair and his foreign policy. I imagine it's the same in Oz.

Despite enjoying the US on holidays, I would give my left b*****k to remain English and not American.

most of us australians have a lot of pride in our country. we are not jealous, nor do we dislike you. if you look closely at australian celebrations, they tend to revolve around australia forging its own identity (except for the queens birthday which we enjoy for the extra day off). yes there is a good relationship between aus and the us, but to suggest that we are just another of your many states, would anger a lot of people. we are our own unique people that pride the country more than anything else.

Hay... If you need to say that Australia is the 51st State of the United States to make Americans feel better about their country, go for it.

Us Australians know who we are and are proud of it. We don't need to say that America is the 9th State (including Territory's) of Australia. Although we do have another possible state off to the south east that could be another state. hahaha

Is Israel attacking Iran imminent ?

When Israel attacked Lebanon in 2006. I happened to watch CNN. After it reported war broke out, CNN’s Lou Dobbs is accusing, in a full length, with vehement tones, that China was cyber attacking Pentagon. It made viewers immediately forget Israelis attack, but left with immense hatred or resentments against the Chinese.

Here is the transcript two years ago:

“LOU DOBBS, CNN ANCHOR: Tonight, Israel is on the verge of all- out war with Lebanon. Israeli tanks, artillery and troops are now in southern Lebanon. We'll have a live report from the Israel-Lebanon border.

What a schmuckish question.  You are obviously very uninformed.  

#1.-  America has spent her power.  We are now simply the most indebted, over-spent, over-aggresive b******e of the world.  We are a great nation with absolutely terrible leadership and random opinions like yours.

#2.- Australia is an independant and inventive country of its' own.  Can you really not see how your reference would insult someone from there?  You make this country look even worse with stupid questions like this one.  Do us a favor and shut up.
