Question:

Question about Blue Velvet?

I just saw Blue Velvet for the first time. I've heard the film called misogynist, especially considering the mistreatment of Isabella Rossellini's character. In an odd way though, I found it empowering. Dorothy is put through h**l, endures sexual slavery, and in the end is victorious. She is reunited with her son who was kidnapped by Frank Booth. By soldiering through her humiliation she finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel. What are your thoughts?

  1. It still stands as a bona-fide masterpiece, one of the few such films that actually was appreciated in its time and has perfectly weathered all the years since.

    Great film all-in-all.

    Hope it answers your question.
