Question about Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, VA...?

I'm going this Friday on a class trip and taking a gym bag to keep my camera, phone, extra clothes, etc. inside while in the park. I'm going to be with a group of friends, and it's possible that ALL of us will be riding rides all together. I know that you're not allowed to take things like bags on most rides, so what do I do with it?

  1. According to Busch Gardens rules, no bags may be carried in line for many rides. This means not only in line...but also  means a bag may not be carried on the ride. Busch Gardens does NOT provide boxes on the ride load/unload platforms and will not allow you to leave items on the ride loading dock (this is mostly at the roller coasters).

If you want to store your bag, you need to place it in a locker or give it to a non-rider (maybe someone who chickens out at the last minute).

I was able to get around that rule last year but only because I'm a type 1 diabetic and must keep certain supplies with me at all times (water, glucose meter, Glucagon kit). I went through a lot of trouble to be exempt from that rule and the park management required me to wear a bracelet that is given to the disabled (I'm NOT disabled). Although the bracelet allowed me to go to the front of any line, I declined this because all I needed was my bag. I didn't need help.

Needless to say, I raised h**l with park management, saying that rules can and should be modified for certain situations (such as medical necessity). The situation was eventually resolved but I will wait to see what happens this summer. Since I live close to the park, I go about twice a month.

  2. You can bring a bag and put it in a locker. I think that you can put it on the side when you go on a ride. I would bring a jacket and put your things in a pocket. All of you can probably go on a ride at once. PS ride griffon. Its awesome!

  3. For most of the coasters, they'll allow you to have bags and such in your hands, and I always see people leaving their stuff on the platforms.  I don't think there's storage bins at the coasters anymore (I don't remember seeing them last weekend), but I do know that there are lockers available adjacent to Griffon.  I think they cost around $2 to use.  If anyone in your group isn't riding, you can always pass your stuff off to them.

While you're at the park, be sure to ride Griffon.  If you get to the park first thing in the morning, hit Griffon first since it's the newest coaster and the line gets long quickly.  To get to Griffon, when you get in the park, head to the right, go through Ireland, and follow the pathway.  As soon as you see Griffon, cut to the left of the buildings instead of walking all the way around them.  This will get you to the bridge that leads to Griffon quickly.

  4. Outside of all of the rollercoasters there are banks of lockers to keep your stuff in. To get them, you must get tokens from a nearby machine and spend them to take the key out of the locker which effectively locks your things in there. Other than that the only thing you can do is not bring that much with you

  5. Leave most of the things in the car and put the small things in a waterproof butt pack that straps to your waist. the larger items should stay in the gym bag/car. Remember (water proof) and don't miss a photo op. You'll need the phone if your party gets split up,have fun.

  6. I haven't been tehre in a while, but there are lockers and those box things.

    have fun! :D

  7. Unless you get some nice people who are working the rides, then you MUST rent a locker to put it in.  It used to be that you could take them with you and put your stuff in cubbies while you were riding the rides.  But they've really started enforcing the rule where you have to put your stuff in the lockers.

I can't remember exactly how much the lockers cost, but you have to pay something.

But the last time I was there was last year, and maybe they won't enforce that.  If not, then just put it in the cubbies that will be around where you exit the ride.  I've never had anything stolen or something like that, but just know that no one is really watching your stuff.
