Question about Cali gun laws.?

If you owned a AR15 and a Glock 17 with hicap mags before the gun laws were changed, are you allowed to have it today.I live in Pa and I was just wondering how Cali gun laws worked.

You may continue to possess high capacity magazines you owned prior to the ban being instituted (it took effect 1/1/00).  You may continue to use your high capacity magazines in your Glock (you cannot sell, lend or otherwise transfer possession of those magazines to anyone else in the state unless they are exempt from the ban).  You may not use your high capacity magazines for your AR-15. If you are moving to CA you cannot bring your high capacity magazines with you and provided it has an "Off List" receiver your AR-15 must be modified to comply with CA rules--the modification to require a tool to remove the magazine is the major one.  Due to the space available, this is a simplified presentation of some very complicated statutes and regulations.

California has a feature count gun law, Too many evil features , no good.

Even in states that have grandfather clauses like connecticut you had to have the evil weapon in state (and registered) , you can;t move to those states with an evil gun , no matter when you personally owned it.

As an addendum to the above responses, be forewarned that the BLM requires someone shooting an AR-15 on BLM land to have a $1 million liability insurance policy on it.  I'm not joking, you can go to www.sdfish.com and check out the multi-year ordeal this guy and his father went through.  Law Enforcement in much of CA tends to be rather anti-gun and they will enforce every law in the books, even ones most people have never heard of.

You wont be allowed to bring your AR-15 into California unfortunately but you shouldn't have any major issues with the Glock.
