Question about Celexa please read if you've ever taken it or something simalar ?! Best Answer gets 10 points!

Question

Okay I am about to start taking Celexa tonight, if you've ever taken it please describe your experience with it...like did it make you have suicidal thoughts? Did it increase or decrease your appetite? Would you recommend it? Just those sorts of things because it's my first anti-depressent and I'm a little nervous .

I was on Celexa around 2000, but it is hard to say exactly the effect it had on me because I was also taking Effexor at the same time.  I don't recall an increase in appetite when Celexa was added to my Effexor however.  I was suicidal -- but I was suicidal before I was on any medications at that time and continued to be for a long time until I was put on a mix of meds that finally controlled my PTSD, Depression and DID together.  Try not to worry too much, since worrying can only make things worse.

I was on Celexa when I was 18.   I gained 45lbs. while being on it.  I didn't have any suicidal thoughts.  It's a good medication to be on, but the only reason why I wouldn't recommend it is because of the weight gain.  A lot of people that I know have taken it and also made them gain weight.  I am now on Zoloft and I really like that one.  I've actually have lost weight with this drug....20 lbs. to be exact.  You just have to start with one and if you don't like it you can try something else.  It will take time.

my mom took celexa a few years ago. she never was suicidal and it didn't increase her appetite. i'm sure that everyone has a different experience with it though. she told me that this made her have no emotions what so ever. she didnt really show any emotion and was monotone a lot. this is good though if you get anxious a lot, however. hope this helped. god bless you too, and thanks for answering my question, lol
