I was wondering.. I made an appointment with my Ob/GYN for the third.. I was going to ask her about Clomid.. I'm overweight, have PCOS.. and I don't get my period unless on provera or bcp.. She is going to be giving me an annual exam.. during this visit I wanted to talk to her about clomid and was wondering if she would prescibe me some.. and how to bring up the fact that I want to try it.. We have been ttc for almost two years now.. I have googled clomid, pcos and being overweight.. alot of people said that their doctor would not prescribe them any clomid.. others said that they were referred to a specialist.. while others said that they were told to loose weight and/or try metformin.. would she give me clomid to try at least once?? Please tell me if she will or not.. I appreciate all of your help.. :)

  1. Go straight to a RE. They will give you clomid.

  2. Will losing weight jumpstart fertility in overweight patients with PCOS?

It may, but it doesn't always. There are lean women with PCOS. Weight loss may help reduce insulin resistance, resulting in spontaneous or improved ovulation. Quick weight loss may cause more harm than good, so slow weight loss is best. Losing 10 percent of one's body weight should be enough to show some improvement in symptoms.

Does Clomid work for women with PCOS?

Clomid may work for PCOS women, but only about 40 percent of those who ovulate on it will get pregnant. A good trial is three to four ovulatory cycles. Most doctors would recommend not doing more than six cycles total of Clomid.

I don't see why she wouldn't let you try it. I did some research on it and there doesn't seem to be any reason why you shouldn't try it but then again I don't know your medical history. Nobody can predict what she will tell you, but I don't see any reason why she wouldn't let  you try Clomid.

    Good Luck  :o)
