Are those checks counterfeit or are they real checks that bounce? I dont understand how they work. I get messages from those people all the time. I don't see how anyone could fall for those.

  1. they are fake checks.

  2. Well, if you get a check for an item you're selling on craigslist, call the bank listed on their check to verify funds before you hand over your item for sale.  Not everyone is fradulent but craigslist has no way to guarantee your sale.  You can try setting up a paypal account for people to deposit money but just keep your guard up on CL.

  3. They are fake checks that is usually for more then you asked for and then they tell you oopsie can you send the difference back to me. They really don't seem to care about what they are buying and they try to stress non shalauntly that you deposit it to your bank account. Then send back the difference right away!

I've heard from a couple of different people. When you get the check take it to the bank that is supposedly the issuer and they will call in the FBI no joke!! They try to trace them but most of the time it's hard.
