Question about DVR's and TV ratings

When you DVR a program, does it count towards the TV ratings?

Like say, i DVR Monday Night Raw one night..would my recording count as viewership?

  1. Yes they do. Most DVRs nowadays have duotuner so you can record one program on one tuner and watch tv on the other while you have the other still recording. Even if you don't have this feature and you record a program, your box still tunes to the channel you want it to record, thus counting as viewership.

  2. Nielsen ratings are based on statistics reported by viewers either manually or from some devices in their home.  Unless you're one of those households, your viewing doesn't influence the Nielsen ratings.

    TiVo and other services also compile statistics that would take into account your viewing habits.  However, these are not the most common 'TV ratings' that you're referring to, probably.
