Are these good cages for dwarf hamsters? If not, what cages would you recomend? Any other advise for someone wanting to buy a dwarf hamster for the first time?

  1. I've got two roborovski hamsters (the smallest of the dwarfs) and I would never consider popping them in those two cages.

I had one similar when I had chinese hamsters (average dwarf size) but that was when they were fully grown.

The problem you'll have is when they're babies, so not fully sized but still super active and good explorers, and they'll fit through any size bar! ...especially when frightened.

For my roborovski's, I've got a rotastak one.   You can pick and chose out of loads of them, and keeping in mind, you don't have to go for a ready made design (like the princess or space commands) ; just go for the ones which are like tanks.

I've got a big solid tank one (live the bottom layer of the space command) and another one which goes on top.   They do specially designed (cute) little ladders which pop onto the tubes which go upwards.   I wouldn't recommend loads of tubes though as they do struggle with some angles.    But it does give them the freedom of two levels, and the water bottles are perfect size for how much they drink ; and becuase the cages are big enough for you're average sized hamster, you can fit a bunch of hamsters in there (although more than 4 would be pushing it).    Plus just go for a normal sized hamster wheel for the rotastak cages as it can fit two hamsters in at the same time.    Pluuuussss in them cages, you can fit loads of dwarf hamster toys specially built for their size so its lots of fun! And they're just great to watch playing around!

Plus rotastak cages are found in a lot of stores with good deals on them.

  2. it depends on the type of dwarf hamster. Some of the really tiny ones can fit through the bars I had a cage that didn't have bars for my dwarf hamsters just for their safety,

  3. the mimi one looks best outta the two dwarf hamster only tiny things they don't need too much space and plastic cage are better like you have chose

  4. If you get two make sure you s*x them first. My daughter now has 16. The male has been banished to is own cage.
