How much can one buy a Tesla for and are they available used anywhere?

but only available in a few US urban centres, and very limited numbers, eg just 80 in first 1/4 2008. so will probably cost more 2nd hand

if you ordered one today don't expect it before last 1/4 2008

I wouldn't think they would have that many used one's out there since it's brand new.  They go for 100k starting.  Not to bad imo.

They just started to sell them, so there are no used ones available yet.

A new base model Tesla Roadster goes for $98,950.

I don't understand why anyone would want one. A hybrid or even a small diesel/gas vehicle will give much better performance and pollute less, unless you can produce the power used from electricity produced by alternative sources.

Why in the world would anyone pay much more for a car that pollutes at least as much, carries only two people, and requires charging time and battery problems?

Because they are such a hi tech car they are only  being supplied to California where they can economically supply the tecechnical support. Used is most unlikely at this stage in the proceedings.

You could always buy a used Lotus Elise and convert it yourself, you wouldn't get the same spec, but the principle is the same.
