I was very sick in my first 5 month of pregnancy, well, still. So i was trying to eat like at least 3 meals a day, but sometimes i couldn't even do that so i opt to start drinking ensure every day. It says that it's a meal replacement. On my 5 month i had gain only 1 pound and a half. now i'm 6 months and i have gained 10 more, i still drink it every day but not as a meal replacement anymore because a feel much better, i do it because all the protein, vitamin and minerals the milk contains and sometimes i get sick and get scared that i'm not providing my baby all her nutrients. My midwife says my baby its doing great and she has gain over a pound. Should i stop drinking ensure?

  1. Its up to you, i drink ensure and boost because i have a very week immune system due to things that are wrong with me, but i found that drinking those drinks keeps me getting the nutrition that i need and i dont really have to worry about what i eat during the day as long as i take my drink.  I dont drink them as often now, but my baby is healthy so I'm pretty positive it does not have a bad effect on the baby or you.

  2. I wouldn't stop drinking it unless you wanted to. I have had a lot of trouble with morning sickness and not gaining weight, now 6 months along I just started to drink ensure. Even though I didn't gain anything until my 20 week appointment my doctor assured me that I would catch up on weight gain. Don't worry about the 10 lbs, your body is probably playing catch up as well....and at least the weight is coming from a nutritional source and not junk food. Oh, I would make sure you are not drinking Ensure Plus (the one for gaining weight :-)
