Hello, I have a question regarding the FAFSA Pell Grant. Last semester (2007-2008), I received the full amount. However, this semester, so far, I've only taken 9 units, during the spring. I plan to take atleast 1 summer course and go 12 units during the fall. How much could I expect to recieve during the 2008-2009 FAFSA year? Or will my Pell Grant be slashed because I only took 9 units during the Spring.

  1. If you were paid by Pell to go full time this semester (Spring 08) and you only take 9 then you will likely put on fin aid probation and told you have to "make up" that missing 3 credit hours on your own the next semester without financial aid.  Not sure if the school will make you do it during the summer or instead make you take 15 hours during the summer instead of the 12.  I'd call them and find out.

If you just enroll in 9 hours in the fall you will not get the full pell, but that would save you money for the next summer if you wanted to go then.  Most folks use all their Pell in the fall and spring and have to do loans in the summer if they choose to go.

  2. the grant amount will depend on how much ur income is., if u will be a full time student or not (which u will be) and on how much ur school have left over for you (so apply very early each year).at the time ur application gets to them...if everything is in ur favor u should be fine.

  3. go see you FA adviser. They will tell you down to the penny Good luck
