Question:

Question about FF drafts?

1. Would Brandon Marshall, Lee Evans, Chris Chambers, Roddy White, Calvin Johnson, or Joey Galloway be above average 3rd receivers?

2. Any hope for Ahman Green, Shaun Alexander, Deuce Mccallister, Reuben Droughns, or other RB studs from past years?

3. Should you draft a backup TE or QB?

4. Is handcuffing worth it? (not including RBBC situations like JAC.)

5. When you are starting 2 rbs, how many should you have on your bench? How many backup WR's?

Thanks in advance.

  1. 1. All the recievers you named, except for calvin johnson (he has yet to prove himself) are above average 3rd recievers. In my league last year, my 3rd reciever was Dwayne Bowe. I would take most of the recievers you listed over Bowe.

    2. I don't think so. There is too much good young talent in the league at the running back position for any of the older, former studs to shine (with the exception of fred taylor).

    3. I wouldn't draft either one, unless you are satisfied with your starters AND bench players (hopefully at lest 2 decent running backs or sleepers on your bench). In my mock drafts though, i will admit to drafting Heath Miller in  a couple, becuase it was about the 10th round, and he was still on the board. He was my tight end from last season, and will produce again this season.

    4. Handcuffing is worth maybe your second to last or very last pick, depending on how many rounds are in your draft, and who're you're handcuffing. The only runningbacks i think are worth handcuffing this year are LT, Adrian Peterson, and Joseph Addai, as anyone who steps into these backfields will be successful.

    5. I usually have 1 backup reciever, and evertying else will be running backs, as running backs are the key to success in FF.

    Hope that helps

  2. 1. Lee Evans and Calvin Johnson are definitely about average #3 WRs. Chambers is good but Im not sure he's going to get the ball as much as the other 2 I mentioned. Same goes with Galloway. Marshall is inconsistent and White shouldn't be a starter.

    2. Out of the 4 you mentioned, Ahman Green.

    3. Draft a backup QB. They give you more points than a TE. Make sure their bye week isn't the same as your starting QB's bye week.

    4. Depends on who it is. If the starter is injury prone than yes. I would only do it on teams using a 2 RB system.

    5. 1 backup RB and 2 backup WRs. Try to make sure the backup RB doesn't have the same bye week as your starters and make sure at least 1 WR doesn't have the same bye week as your starters.

    Hope this can help

  3. 1.) Personally a good 3rd reciever from your list would be Joey Gallowary, Lee Evans and possibly Chris Chambers but he's kinda had a couple of rough years recently. Plus nobody really knows whats going on in Miami with the quarterback situation and the run game may be their main attack. Some other good 3rd recievers that you might want to think of would be Amani Toomer, Mussin Mohammad (recently traded back to Carolina with a healthy Jake Delholmme) or Patrick Crayton.

2.) Ahman Green could possibly be a good fillin running back for injured players or bye weeks but Shaun Alexander is probably not a good choice at this time. Personally I think his career is over. Deuce McCallister is a much better investment than Reuben Droughns or even Reggie Bush because of his experience and running style. Some other studs that might be good to pick up on would be a recovering cadilliac williams. Micheal Pittman is probably the greatest risk but potentially the greatest sleeper via his transaction to Denver.

3.) Diffently a backup QB as oppose to a TE. Tight ends arn't really a part of anyones offense unless its a Jeremy Shockey, Todd Heap, Tony Gonzalez, etc. but based on the way defenses have been shaping up a back up QB would be a better investment for injuries and bye weeks.

4.)No, just stick to the basics. A championship Fantasy Football run is based on good choices, some risk, but basic smart football.

5.) If you start 2 rbs, since they really don't rank up points as much as a QB or WR, just keep one on your bench. I would imagine that you are starting 3 WR, keep 2 on you bench

No Problem, email me at maddenologist@gmail.com and maybe we can get into the same league or something.

  4. This is my 20th year playing.

    Here are my recommendations:

    1. All would be above-avg. WRs.  (Chambers and Galloway on bottom of list tho)

    2. McAllister is the only one listed with good potential to be good this year.

    3. Don't draft a backup TE.

        Do draft a backup QB.

I like to get a TE late- somebody like LJ Smith or Olsen.

    4. Handcuffing is not worth it.

    5. I like to have atleast 2 of each.

    Good Luck!

  5. Marshall yes....Evans yes....Chambers.....Yes (hes gunna have a great year this year) Calvin Johnson no, Lions need a better QB to throw him the ball

on the RB's...dont draft any of those

go wight a back up TE
