  1. it depends on where you are playing

wood sticks are harder and absorb shock

    but composite hit farther

    light is for forwards

while medium is for harder heavier hits

an indoor stick isnt going to endure outside as well as a outside stick

  2. if you are a forward you want a lighter stick and moving back on the field you want to get heavier for strong, powerful hits. Midi is the shape of the head of the stick. Its a curve but not as curved as the J. Hope that helped =)

  3. Indoor hockey- no hitting and no raising ball, unless shooting. Indoor sticks are made of similar materials, but extremely thin head so that you can flick easier, and they are very light. No good at all in outdoor hockey as they break. Go for a light stick, more manourvable in tackling.

Outdoor- Most sticks now are composite (kevlar, fibre glass etc) as opposed to wood, so the power is much higher than older sticks. Vibration is less as well. Go for a light or medium (wont make a huge difference) but find a stick that won't vibrate too much when you hit. In terms of head shape, if you are starting out maybe good with a hook head- this gives more surface area for trapping, particularly on backstick. Good luck!
