Question about FLEAS!!!!!?

Can fleas live on just humans alone? I own no animals. However, the other day I was out and stepped in what I thought was a group of ants. I soon discovered that they were fleas!!! I gave my self a good look over, careful not to bring them home. Well I did anyway, because I found one on my toddlers ankles of the course of a week. She has bites all over her little legs, and my husband and I don't have a single one. I have also found the little "dirt remnants" in our bed. I have vacuumed, washed and shaken all our bed coverings at least 3 times, this week. Will these fleas die off on there own, because we have no pets, or do I need to give my daughter a flea bath and a flea collar? HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

  1. We had a similiar problem. We have stray cats in the area. First use a granule pesticide in your yard. Second use a fogger with an igr insect growth regulator it will kill the eggs might have to fog twice. You can find them at Home Depot.

  2. No, they won't die off with time and they will just keep increasing. "Bomb" your house, as they say. Go buy some flea pesticide and plan a day[or however long it says on the bottle] bomb each room of the house, and stay out of your house for  awhile.

You could always try some carpet flea killer, but you'll have to vacuum like crazy!

But before you do anything like this I would keep your toddler off the floor so you can minimize her getting bit.

  3. Fleas usually will choose one particular person in the house to bite. Usually on the feet or ankles. But you can sprinkle flea powder around your house, and wash your sheets. Also try buying Seargeants flea shampoo at WalMart. Its cheap and it works. The fleas should be gone in about a week or less after that.

  4. I think fleas can reproduce very easily and anywhere.  If you bring them in the house, they can get into the carpets, furniture, clothes, linens, almost anywhere and lay eggs.

What you need to do is exterminate your house.  They have flea (bombs) that you set off in the house.  Available at Home Depot, Lowes.   Obviously, you need to leave your house while the "poison" sprays your house.  It takes a few hours.

For humans, a good hot shower, and of course wash the bed linens, bath towels and clothing.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. First, BEFORE you bomb your house, you need to check to make sure you have them. They can live in furniture, beds, and carpet for up to a few weeks.

Take a bowl of warm soapy water, and put it under a nightlight plugged into a low socket on the wall. Leave it over night. In the morning, if it has fleas in it, you have fleas. Do this for a few different rooms, too. They might have nested in just one area.

If you do infact have fleas, buy a spray at Petco, or any other pet store that kills fleas in the home. Make sure the baby, and any other people and animals are out of the house for a few hours.

If that doesn't solve it THEN bomb your house, but make sure you have any food no sealed tight in the fridge, and wipe down any and every surface your family may touch with chlorox wipes or something similar to remove and poison residue.
