Question:

Question about Girl Scouts?

I am in 7th grade, so I am a cadette. I have been in a troop for the past 5 years, and I was supposed to be a Juliette (independant Girl Scout) this year. I am now helping with a troop of 4th graders. I was wondering how I could earn a leadership badge for that, and if there was anyway for me to earn badges myself (a book or something?) THANKS!

  1. Your council store will have copies of the books that list the requirements for earning all the awards and maybe some pamphlets with more information about special awards.  While you are there, you can ask how an independent Girl Scout gets the badges she has earned.

  2. Contact your local council.

Individual troop leaders probably don't know all the ins and outs, but the council should have someone whose job it is to work with the independents.

  3. Yes, once a scout, always a scout: I couldn't agree more. I loved my Girl Scouting years. I suggest you ask any of the the troop leaders about ways of earning badges yourself, I can really see no other way. What you're doing now certainly qualifies you for a leadership badge, just ask how to make it official.

I wonder if you've seen the online qualification test, which may not be helping you directly, but you might want to see things taken into account when deciding on the leadership roles.

    Good luck:)

  4. If you are a 7th grader helping 4th graders you certainly are a leader.  I would suggest getting in touch with one or two numbered troop leaders and ask for their advice.  As troop leaders they have the authority to get them.  They may be able to use you as a  IGS   "satellite" junior leader and obtain the badges for you (you'd have to pay for them yourself because their girls' badges come out of dues I believe and you don't contribute to their group.  Good Luck.

PS:  It is really wonderful to hear that a young girl is really interested in Girl Scouts now a days.  Bless you.

  5. Achieving an outstanding tasks like saving lives during a calamity.

  6. Your troop leader should have a book that tells all the badges you can earn and what the requirements are for earning each badge.  I used to be a Girl Scout too.  I really enjoyed it and there are so many ways you can have a good time and make people feel good about the world.
