If globalisation is an unavoidable trend, how does this affect the political economy of countries and, in turn their culture and education?

  1. Homework question?  Oh well it is an interesting one so I'll answer it anyway.

Chances are globalisation will primarily cause a two tier social system within the current sub cultures of other countries.  There are the people who will embrace change and accept globalisation and then there are the people who want to do things they way they have always done them.  This would be a big problem within developing democratic countries because the two opposing views will probably have near equal share of representation.

Even for the dictatorships, this separation of view points could cause conflict between neighboring countries.  On controlled by a dictator that wants to focus on doing things the old fashioned way will have a slower or declining economy and will more than likely blame it on their neighbor.  Either the people migrate to their neighbor who is accepting globalisation, or they could take action through more hostile means.

The countries that do move ahead with globalisation will see an increase in jobs, and with a higher demand for a work force, some skilled jobs will require more education.  With more people working more of them will be able to afford education.  The opposite happens within the country that isolates itself, the people stay poor and uneducated.

North Korea is currently the only country(as far as I know) that tries to be self sustaining.  They mostly trade with only China and it is only things they can't provide for themselves.  The people of North Korea are paying dearly for it.  The children are so underfed that there is an extreme height and body weight difference to the children of South Korea.
