Question about IL Medicaid?

I was wondering if the IL Medicaid program requires that a pregnant woman reside in IL for a certain amount of time before qualifying for prenatal care through Medicaid? I am on Medi-Cal right now (CA Medicaid) and plan to move to IL halfway through my pregnancy. Will I be able to get Medicaid in IL right away or will I have to remain in CA until the baby is born? Oh, and I am also looking to have the delivery cost covered,as well. Thanks.

  1. So far as I'm aware there are no residency requirements for medicaid in IL

  2. I really can't help you with specifics, I don't live in Illinois, but I really don't think it will matter how long you have lived there. Although,it will be a hassle and a bunch of annoying, excessive paperwork. Plus, you will be treated like you are an inbreed, half-brained, moron just because you don't make enough money to cover the excessive cost of having a baby, which is your d**n prerogative anyway. Like it's OUR fault  health care in this country is waaay too expensive.  And it should cover the delivery, I had a c-section and was in the hospital for 6 days, I was covered for all of it. Good luck and enjoy your new baby when (s)he gets here.

  3. there are residency requirements for Medicaid in IL the only requirement is that you reside in IL you must show proof of this so when you move here you must go get you state id to reflect your new address if you would like more information visit the state website for health care and family services. however you must have proof of new address you can also show them that you were receiving medical assistance in california you can let them know you wish to transfer it or see what other benefits you qualify for in IL id recommend the all kids program there is a monthly premium depending on your income status if its less than a certain amount the program is free.

Key point : almost all delivery costs are covered through medicaid in IL
