I was on the site justin.tv and my user name was mistaken with somebody elses. my name was a variation of a popular soccer player's name. the broadcaster of the channel (it's a "lifecast" or something) immediately typed my IP address into the chat. The people in the chat said they were going to trace it. what exactly does that mean? i found websites that you type numbers into and it tell you information about where the computer is located. no matter what i said they didn't believe it was a case of mistaken identity. then i got banned from typing on the chat.
what kind of information can they obtain? can they find out my home address, phone number, name, or anything else? is it legal? they are just users on the site that said they were going to find out who i was, but i don't want to receive phone calls or for them to give out my personal info in their chat. i reported it to the website, but that's not going to stop these users of the site. I'm not afraid of getting into any trouble or anything since i didn't do anything wrong, but i don't want tech savvy kids to be able to get my personal info and do what they please with it!
what kind of info can they get from an ISP address and should i be concerned? Thanks SO MUCH for ANY help!
