Question about Keratosis Pilaris?

HELP!! I'm 32 and began getting a BAD case of keratosis pilaris approx 2 yrs ago all over both my upper arms (from elbow all the way up to shoulder---the worst being in the middle of those two places)....I can't wear short sleeves....I have seen Dermatologists who only give me creams that never work. I know KP is incurable, but what about any other alternatives besides creams like IPL (intense pulse light), a laser to help remove the KP? Any advice would be GREAT. Thanks everyone in advance.

  1. I asked about laser treatments at my dermatologist - they say that it's very expensive, and it really doesn't work.  You might get a temporary improvement, but it wouldn't last long at all, as KP is basically a hereditary condition and therefore programmed into your body.  However - the "KP Duty" lotion and body scrub work better than anything I've ever tried!  It's bloody expensive ($36 for a 4oz tube, just for the cream - body scrub is extra) - but it really does work well.  You have to be dedicated - the stuff has to go on every day, or it starts coming back.  I can finally wear shorts and sleeveless shirts again without total strangers commenting on my skin ("Do you know that you've broken out in a rash?"..."Man, that's some sunburn..."  "Are you cold - you have goosebumps all over you!"...and my personal favorite, from a complete stranger..."That rash looks awful.  Is it contagious?"

The KP Duty really does work - and believe me, over the years I have tried EVERYTHING, and then some.  Even with the maximum strength LacHydrin lotion, LactaCare, and the prescription strength versions of the same stuff with steroids mixed in, I still had the red bumps.  The KP Duty does not completely get rid of my problem, but I have a pretty nasty case of KP, so if yours is mild, it might alleviate it completely.  The 4oz tube lasts me a little over a month if I'm careful to apply it very sparingly - the scrub lasts a little bit longer (6 weeks?).  Good luck!
