Question:

Question about LEDs?

I'm trying to change the leds in my car from green to white. I found one person who did it successfully and he used 3.6V 20mA leds. I haven't been able to find any LEDs in white with those specifications. I've found some with a lower voltage though so I'm wondering if that would be okay.

I used an LED I bought off of ebay and it worked but then burned out right away in one switch and it only works sometimes in another switch.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Whatever LEDs you get for your car, they have to be an equivalent voltage to the old one.  An LED or light bulb in that matter rated with a lesser voltage than what your car is producing will always burn out immediately.

  2. Not sure why or for what reason you are using LED's on your car, but you can use any basic LED on your car as long as you maintain the specifications of the forward voltage and current for that particular LED.  Adding current limiting resistors in series with the LED should prevent any "burn outs" if they are of the proper value and wattage.  Check out this website on LED's:
