Question about MB E320 BLUETEC and California?

Call me crazy, but wasn't BLUETEC supposed to be the solution that allows certain German companies to sell diesels in California (+ the other 5 states)?

So then, why is the 2008 MB E320 BLUETEC still not legal for use in California (except for their special lease deal)? Doesn't the E-Class use the AdBlue thing? Or will that come to the SUVs first?

Does anyone know when the MB E-Class will finally be 50-state legal?

  1. A diesel engine is not totally clean.  It is cleaner than a gasoline engine, but still has pollution.  A good steam plant is even cleaner, and cars have run fine on steam since the 1800's.  Even better is Electric cars (but they have short range).  One more thing, California laws are like a vacuum cleaner-- they SU..........
