  1. There is no real way to measuer this acclerating slowly does not make as much of a difference as staying far enough back that you don't have to slow down.

Accelerating and deccelerating too much are the main issues you need to think about..

you will not lose a greatly noticable amount in city driving as you do not accelerate to very high number very quickly...

  2. It's hard to say. The C5 Vette can get 20 mpg city if you baby it. If you flog it it drops to the mid teens. I would say you lose about 3-5 miles to the gallon. I flog my car in city driving and I still got 22 mpg. Only way to figure it out is do an easy driving after a fill up, then a hard run and compare.

  3. It really depends on your car.  I would say you'll lose 5-7 mpg.

  4. that totally depends on the car, and how good it running, and how aggressive of a driver you are. If the car supposedly gets 25 mpg, then i would expect it to get 18-20.

I got this number from having many many years of driving experience both in cities and highways.

  5. why not learn the easy way ,get a gallon of petrol for your car and keep it in the boot and when you run out use your gallon of petrol and give it some welly like you always do, and  then see how far you get, before you fill up again with that empty can you have in the boot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got to use your brains to work this one out; there are drivers, and there are DRIVERS???

  6. without knowing the make and model of the car you have, it's impossible to answer your question.

The same rule applies to ALL cars. accelerate gently and keep your speed at or a little below the speed limit for best MPG.
